Ignite is UC San Diego’s flagship innovation conference for risk-takers, rule-breakers, and changemakers. The annual event connects the campus and community for two days of jam-packed networking and entrepreneurial learning. Ignite 2019 will take place February 20-21, 2019 at UC San Diego Price Center.  Please visit the Ignite venue page for more information on the location of the conference.

Registration for Ignite is open to students, alumni, faculty, and staff from UC San Diego and regional universities; entrepreneurs; investors; and all members of the community. Whether you’re looking to build your team, join a new team, or simply make connections, come explore San Diego’s entrepreneurial culture.

Due to construction projects on campus, parking is severely limited. Off-site parking will be available at cost, with shuttle service provided. Ignite attendees are highly encouraged to carpool or to take alternate transportation. Check our venue page for more transportation details.

There are several hotels near UC San Diego in La Jolla and the surrounding area. For detailed information on the accommodations options available to visitors, please visit the lodging and visitor info page for hotel listings in the area or check our UC Health partners for information on discounts available at Bartell Hotels where your hotel lodging will also support the Barrister Family House which provides a home away from home for patients and families undergoing long-term treatment at UC San Diego Health.

Although there is no official dress code for Ignite, we recommend business casual attire, as this is a professional conference with great networking opportunities.

As Ignite is a community conference celebrating innovation, we recognize that participants may wish to share images and other event content. In attending the conference, please be aware that activities may be photographed or recorded for news, educational, and promotional use by the organizers.

Registration

The registration rates for Ignite 2019 can be found on our registration page. Early-bird pricing is available until January 1, 2019 – be sure to grab your tickets today!

Depending on which ticket you purchase, you will have access to renowned keynote presentations, breakout sessions, hands-on workshops, pitch competitions, and more. Descriptions of each ticket can be found on our registration page. Proceeds from ticket sales help to fund prizes for students that are competing in the pitch competitions to take their ideas to the next level. Coffee will be provided throughout the two days, and we invite you to grab a lunch buddy to explore dozens of food options available for purchase in the Price Center.

Yes, tickets are available to undergraduate and graduate students for a special discounted price. Select the “Student” ticket on the registration page and be sure to bring a valid student ID for check-in at the conference.

Yes, special discounted pricing is also available for academic affiliates and for active military and veterans.

  • University faculty and staff members can select the “Academic” ticket on the registration page. Be sure to bring a valid university ID for check-in at the conference.
  • Active duty military, retirees, and veterans have a discounted ticket option under each category (student, academic, community) on the registration page. Be sure to bring a valid military ID for check-in at the conference.

To keep ticket prices as low as possible, we regret that we cannot offer refunds. If you are not able to attend the conference, please consider transferring your ticket to a friend or colleague.

Getting Involved

There are several opportunities for everyone to participate in Ignite. Explore the ways that you can make a difference and find the one that’s right for you.

Yes, volunteer jobs include set-up, check-in, transportation & parking, room monitors, and many more! Volunteers will receive free admission to the conference, a special event t-shirt, and credit for the Volunteer50 initiative.  If you are interested in volunteering for a two-hour shift on either Wednesday, February 20th or Thursday, Feb. 21st, please fill out this form.

Yes! The Pitch @ Ignite has a student track which is open to all current students or recent graduates and community track that is open to ALL startups and founders – university affiliation not required. Visit our competitions page for more information.
